When you're in the corner and have no cash to move out from that point, you will have to take the loan. Just because that will aid you definitely. I take auto loan every year and feel myself fine because of this.

It should be said, the Village’s Community Development department is facilitating an extraordinarily open process.

All the Total Community Development (TCD3) input has been online throughout the input phase of this process.

Now all the Ad Hoc Comprehensive Plan Committee documents are being available to the public as they are created.

So if a resident is interested in what’s being done, everything is open and available.

And resident comments are welcomed in a number of formats: email, stand-up statements at meetings, etc.

This is a good example of open government!

Someone explain to me how/where the Park District “Board” has the gall, in these financially strapped times, to authorize $70,000 to hire a consultant to study and produce a report to rebuild the Fishel Park bandshell. Am I the only one to think these people are out to lunch? Here’s a concept . . . throw some grass seed over the ground where the bandshell once stood, apply some water and let it grow! When times get better, then consider hiring a consultant.

I was wondering the same thing John. This might be the Park District’s way to re-open that discussion at least.

I’d be interested in reviewing the financials though, as to how much revenue the pool actually brought in. Figure of course, some type of additional revenue because I am sure there are people who do not want to go to the HS to use the pool but if the Park District had a pool, they would.

I couldn’t agree more, Chad. I think noise concerns are reasonable, but perhaps a little overstated in this case. There are restaurants open late, traffic all over and – in case anyone didn’t notice – TRAINS!! Ha. I’m not sure how much “noise pollution” individuals leaving a gym after a workout and going on their way will generate in comparison to the surrounding existing noise. And either way, this is a downtown location. AOTG residents can’t legitimately protest this too much. We aren’t talking about a night club here folks.
I’m guessing some discounted gym memberships being made available to residents of AOTG might cause the small number voicing concerns to see this business as the community amenity that it would clearly be.
Parking concerns are legit all the way around – for other local businesses and the gym (and its members) alike. However, assuming everyone can find a reasonable solution, I would think neighboring businesses will welcome the additional exposure and foot traffic that a gym brings to a block.

If you didn’t want urban living then why did you buy there? Just wondering? You don’t move to a downtown area for peace and quite gang. You move there for the huslte and bustle and for the status of it.

Personally, I think Mr. Funk is perpetuating this feud with O’Connell. He needs to move on. I plan on attending the next meeting to see if this board can move on or if some on this board continue to act like babies when dealing with O’Connell. I want to thank BOE member Lester for setting the tone on the taking the high road method concerning Mr. O’Connell. I also want to commend President Davis for finally taking control of the meetings. The whole clapping and bickering is unbecoming of elected officials and is disrespectful to the formal meeting process.
