When we discussed that the DuPage Water Commissionwould be raising the water rates provided to municipalities, we were thinking it would take effect in May.
Sure enough, look for that increase in your July water bill.
If you remember, there was a good amount of discussion regarding this increase at a few Village Council meetings. The Village will continue to work on a long-term rate plan to ensure the future viability of the water system in Downers Grove, as well as to allow us, as residents, to grasp what future water rates will be.
As for now, residents in the Village will see their rate (per 750 gallons) go from $3.04 to $3.31 and for unincorporated residents, from $3.34 to $3.85.
As a reminder, these additional costs are being passed on from the DuPage Water Commission rate increase. Please read more information on the increase here.
